I had a wonderful time the weekend after Thanksgiving shooting photos around my beautiful city of Seattle. One of my all-time favorite buildings in the city has always been The Arctic Club Seattle, a hotel with a rich history and some seriously cool architecture.

A little background (I’m a history nerd, so go with it) – The Arctic Club first formed as a fraternal group in 1908 originally made up of men who returned from the Yukon gold rush in Alaska. In 1916, the Arctic Club commissioned a well-known architect A. Warren Gould to design the building. What’s really special are the twenty-eight terra cotta walrus busts that surround the third-floor exterior of the building. They’re SO cool! The Arctic Building has been a City of Seattle Landmark since 1978.

Okay, now onto this fun outfit I styled with this posh hotel as my inspiration. When I first saw this Eliza J faux fur jacket at Nordstrom I immediately gravitated towards it. It reminds me of something Blair Waldorf would have worn on the show Gossip Girl. It’s so elegant, and can be worn with both formal and more casual looks.

I chose to go for a little more casual, shopping day outfit look. I paired the jacket with a cute black mini skirt with a ruffle hem and white star print. It’s a great piece I picked up earlier this fall from Madewell. It’s still being sold too! I wanted to go a little funky with this look, so I did some pattern mixing with a striped long-sleeve tee. I love easy pattern mixing like this. It’s so much more interesting and fun than simply doing solid colors all the time 😊.

To accessorize, I paired the outfit with my black over-the-knee boots I bought last season from Cole Haan (similar here). These boots are amazing because they have a thick piece of real suede that goes up the middle shaft of the boot, and the rest of the boot is made with tighter fitting poly-suede. It makes for the best structure and quality (no slipping below my knees!).

You can’t finish off a winter look without a cute hat and bag, which is where this cute $12 beret from H&M comes in. Berets are one of my favorite accessories this season. They’re so Parisian chic. I’m so glad they’re trending because I’ve always loved them.
